Walt Disney augmented reality demo (On the Layar augemented reality browser)
TAB Worldmedia is a GPS based virtual outdoor media network that enables brands to plan digital media campaigns to run parallel to multiple outdoor advertising locations.
How it works:
Any smartphone can "connect" via our GPS based media network to abri's and billboards to get extra content via mobile apps. like the Layar Augmented Reality browser. The trick is that a person should know when a billboard runs an additional GPS enabled media campaign. Therefore we designed a new Icon that explains just that.
Global research agency Synovate conducted a qualitative and quantitative study on the impact of augmented reality on outdoor advertising for TAB Worldmedia. The results of this research is available to our (potential) clients.
TAB Worldmedia offers a specialized reporting service that gives Marketing and Media Directors unique insights in consumer media consumption, profile, which phone they use, location of usage, duration and much more.

How to get ALL EMULATORS+ROMs on your iPod/iPhone
FIRST OFF!.
-READ THE GODDAMN ANNOTATIONS.
-The GBA emulator USED TO COME with the Gameboy Color emulator, but doesn't any longer. You need to get them seperately.
-The PSX emulator requires you to manually add any BIOS or ROMs through iPhone Browser or SSH.
-YES, you need a Jailbroken iPod touch.
-The ROM folder is /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/-emulator-
since I know those are questions that will be asked.
This video was SUPPOSED to be a quick little upload from me, but I failed in that regard due to editing crap together. It took me 10 minutes to film--from getting ready, to setting stuff up, getting the camera good to go, filming, and putting the files on my computer---and 45 minutes to edit what you see here. I basically just tell you how to add the repo's for the emulator apps, and how to download/run them, as well as the ROMs. And I will have a video up sometime shortly(hopefully) on how to use iPhone Browser/WinSCP, which should be MUCH more coherent than this, as most of it takes place on the computer. It's damn hard to use an iPod with one hand while looking through a camera!
REPO TIME!
For the emulators themselves:

The Future of Mobile Television...
... is this probably not, but a great way to satisfy the short attention span need for media. Empowered by Flash Player 10.1 running in the browser of Nexus One / Android.
[CES '08] Opera Browser Coming To The iPhone
http://www.uberpulse.com/us/2008/01/ces_8_opera_browser_arrives_on_iphone.php
The folks at Opera confirmed the soon availability of the Opera browser for the Apple iPhone. Also at CES, the Swedish company launched Opera 9 for devices running Linux, based on the same core engine as the desktop browser and that could be used in portable media players like the ones built by Archos as well as set top boxes. It's based on the same core engine as the Opera desktop browser and ships with an SDK for developers to adapt it to their devices. A move similar to Mozilla's launch of Mobile Firefox.
"Firefox comes from a very desktop centric world and we have been on the embedded side for many many years. We have a strong handling of the memory techniques, small footprint and efficiency on using the CPU cycles as little as possible", said David Rosén, a software engineer at Opera.

Archos 7 Unboxing and Review - Part 1
In this video, I'll be unboxing and reviewing the "Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet", as Archos calls it. The Archos 7 is a portable media player with a full built-in web browser which can display pages in full-size, play any kind of Flash video, view internet TV, store music, video, and even download/save them. After owning the original Archos 700 Mobile DVR for the last few years, I was delighted to see an updated model available.
Originally, it was intended as a gift for my 18th birthday (yesterday, October 29th), however UPS and Expansys messed up the delivery time. Well, once it is delivered eventually, I'm happy! As it happened, that was today. :)

MindTrek Launchpad: Dazzboard
http://techpulse360.com/2009/10/01/dazzboard-connects-itunes-to-all-smartphones-social-networks-receives-funding/
Presenting at the MindTrek conference today, is worldwide famous Finnish startup Linkotec and its Dazzboard service described as the open iTunes for 2.2 billion mobile devices.
Its the first time ever that you have been able to build a global mobile service. Earlier you needed to have a contract with all the carriers in all the countries. Now any one service can be mobile service, explains Linkotec CEO Tero Salonen.
Linkotec claims that its Web browser plug-in for Internet Explorer and Firefox (Windows only) can detect any mobile devices and extract/copy multimedia content (audio, video and applications) from and to it without the need to install a proprietary device manager software that usually comes with a device (iTunes, Ovi).
Instead of installing a 90MB media manager, you will get a 1MB browser plug-in the way we track and connect to a device can not be prevented by the device vendor, adds Salonen.
Android smartphones to gain iTunes access
Dazzboard is first targeting Google Android smartphones it expects 50 million devices 2010 which do not come with a multimedia content manager I cant believe Google forgot about that!
We can provide the iTunes shop for Android devices, claims Salonen.

HP Mobile Internet Experience On VMware Fusion
Took me several hours and was a severe pain, however, I managed to get HP's Mobile Internet Experience (MIE), downloaded from HP's site, running on VMware Fusion. All hardware works now including network, audio, and monitor/video card. This was particularly difficult with no developer tools and kernel source with the release. Being based on Ubuntu 8.04, I was able to correct most of the issues using that source but sticking with the stock kernel. This makes a nice stand alone media player / web browser VM.
The video is laggy and this VM is running much slower than normal. This is because the screen capture software was on the same machine running the VM, so there is a lot of overhead. This runs at least 10 times faster alone. Very nice package HP came up with here. Keep up the good work HP! This is how you do a mean and lean UI in Linux with some style! Defiantly makes me want to pick up an HP Mini with this OS.
P.S. HP, please make this a little more friendly for developers, release source so we can build on to this platform!

Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet W/ Android Review Pt 6 (Web B
www.techreviewonline.co.uk video review. Please join our forums.
$299 16gb version, I purchased a 8gb Micro sdhc card to increase the storage capability. Please ask me if you want me to Review a particular android app/game that you want to see on the Archos 5 internet media tablet especially to see if it works well with it and I will see what I can do! :D
Part 6 of my review of the Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet w/ Android. I demonstrate the Web Browser and how speedy it is as well as Youtube. Please watch Part 7 here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5CVu8dA64A
The Archos 5 Internet Media Tablet with the Android software is a wonderful combination of a personal media player and miniature computer! It is literally like a netbook and has advanced capabilities beyond that of your typical media players. It is a lot bigger than the Zune HD and ipod touch 3g with a gorgeous 4.8' screen. The SSID flash versions that come in 8, 16, 32gb are thin and lightweight. The hard drive models that start at 160gb and go up to 500gigs are a bit thicker obviously
The A5 it is quite simply one of the best devices I have ever owned if not, THE best. It is not without it's faults but it is really an amazing device.
For Tech specs, go here: http://www.archos.com/products/imt/archos_5it/specs.html?country=us&lang=en
The touch screen is not as touch responsive as the ipod touch or Zune HD with it's OLED screen but it's still
easy to use. You need to apply a bit of extra pressure with your fingers and thumbs because of the layers of
the screen. It's not a huge deal and you will get used to it in no time. Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 Review: My Favorite Windows Mobile Device To Date
The HTC Touch Pro2, for sprint, is a windows mobile power house. Sporting a large, vivid touch screen and the best mobile keyboard I have ever used, this device works well in all regards. It features everything a business user needs such as a quality email client, a decent browser, mobile office, and a good phone. It even offers some good media elements such as beautiful playback of videos and images on the screen.
Everything isn't good however. I really hate resistive touch screens and the screen on the Pro2 hasn't changed my mind. If you are making a touch screen phone, use capacitive technology please! Also, user created content is adequate at best on this phone. Pictures are decent, for a mobile phone, but video is barley watchable. When you consider other similar devices, such as the Nokia N97, the camera is simply garbage. And why did the diamond2 get a new, 5MP camera, when the more expensive Pro2 didn't?
Overall, I really love this phone. Aside from the poor camera and limited internal memory, the device did everything I needed it to flawlessly. If you are on sprint and are looking for a business class device with a great keyboard, look no further than the HTC Touch Pro2.

You MUST calibrate the screen by going into settings as soon as you set it up or you might find yourself being frustrated with you not touching the keyboard letters/numbers/games/apps correctly. Calibrating is essential. The screen although not as sharp as the Zune HD, is still a delight and very enjoyable because of it's sheer size. Watching a music video or a video podcast or your own personal media is a lot of fun with the A5 it! I would give the A5 it the slight edge over the ipod touch 3g despite it's better black level on video and the Zune HD despite it's OLED glass screen.
The Google marketplace apps work for the most part really well on the A5 it but some didn't work at all but
the majority so far did for me. A lot of the apps in the marketplace and the offical AppsLib Archos app store

REPO TIME!

Combining a mobile computer, cell phone, high-quality camera and portable media player into a single device, the Nokia N900 unlocked cell phone offers fast 3G connectivity, global roaming capabilities, and a wealth of messaging capabilities to keep you in touch with family, friends and business associates wherever you roam. It runs the new Linux-based Maemo operating system, which brings the benefits of your PC to your mobile world. Enjoy fast application processing and multitasking on the N900's live dashboard--a panoramic home screen that can be fully personalized with favorite shortcuts, widgets and applications--and experience the full web with the Maemo browser and high-speed wireless broadband connectivity. It's all accessed via the N900's 3.5-inch high-resolution touchscreen as well as the device's slide-out full QWERTY keyboard.
Take high-quality photos and widescreen videos using the 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. You'll also be able to tag photos with keywords and browse them using the tag cloud, geotag images with the location data of where they were shot, share online via Ovi Share or Flickr, or store for mobile viewing on the N900's 32 GB internal memory--which can also be expanded via optional microSD memory cards.
The quad-band Nokia N900 GSM/EDGE phone makes it easy to roam globally and stay in touch with voice and text messaging, and this model is also ready to run on 3G networks both in the US and internationally (900/1700/2100 MHz HSPA), enabling fast downloads and streaming multimedia while on the go. It also includes integrated Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) for accessing open networks at work, home, and on the road from a variety of wireless hotspots. You'll also be able to connect to a wide variety of peripherals--including stereo headphones--with the Bluetooth 2.1+EDR capabilities.
With the integrated A-GPS sensor, the device intuitively understands where it is, giving you the ability to search maps for addresses and points of interest using the Ovi Maps application and route a path to your destination.
Unlocked Phone
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider. It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider. This phone comes with a full manufacturer's warranty.
When paired with a compatible 3G network, you'll enjoy a high-speed connection offering a variety of feature-rich wireless services--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In areas not served by a 3G network, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).
Note that the downloading of maps, games, music and videos and uploading of images and videos involves transferring large amounts of data. Your service provider may charge for the data transmission, and the availability of particular services and features may vary by carrier.

Sybase - Afaria - New Media Institute - University of Georgia - Part 1
http://www.sybase.com
SybaseInc uses Afaria to make all of their mobile applications for pocket PCs easy to use and also easy to understand for the mobile user. The New Media Institute at the University of Georgia, is a teaching and research unit dedicated to discovering the future of mobile media applications.
The New Media Institute is a teaching and research unit dedicated to discovering the future of mobile media applications. We believe the future for mobile media really is in the hands of our students. So what we do is put technology in the hands of creative and energetic and, in many ways, crazy students to see what they come up with and sometimes their ideas are the ones that hold the most potential.
When we first started working with mobile media technology, one of the biggest challenges we had was making it easy for us to continue to use the systems in an effective way. We've got a saying that George Jetson never changes his oil. When you really are working in the future, you dont want to mess with the details. So when we get students engaged in thinking about what this technology can do and then there's a small little thing that doesn't work, a setting is out of place, you need to do a different configuration, it really cuts into the enthusiasm that, students have and it keeps us from really showing off the potential for mobile media technology. So we had to have a system that would allow us to use these devices to their maximum capacity and what we found out was with Sybase iAnywhere, we had a system that would allow us to keep all of our devices consistent and would allow each one of our devices to work all the time the way that we needed it to work.
One of the biggest challenges is that people have a different relationship with the mobile device than they do with the computer that we use in our classrooms. What's amazing for us is when we hand them a pocket PC, somebody you would never have thought to change a setting, change the screen size or colors on a laptop computer or desktop computer, feels very comfortable changing everything they can possibly get their hands on on a mobile device. They feel that it's their personal device and that's been one of our biggest challenges is because we want to give them that flexibility to use it as they would in a real world environment. But, when they screw things up, we still have to make sure it gets fixed. And that's what Afaria has really allowed us to do to kind of allow them the flexibility to make some changes but then to help them recover from those changes to still use the technology in the way that we wanted to see them use it.
Every project that students build in the New Media Institute is done for and by students. So, they have to develop all the technology from the ground up and that makes it very important for us to work with systems that are easy for our students to understand. We want to emphasize their creativity, not their technical expertise. We think it's very important that we use tools that make it easy for them to focus on the cool things that they want to do and not the details that they are bored by. So, it's very important for us to bring in to make technology more inclusive so that we bring in people who have new creative ideas. They designed a system to work on a pocket PC using browser technology but connecting up with a very easy to use database backend. So, we had a couple of students who understood all the different pieces but a lot of students who understand how they want the system to operate.
One of the coolest projects that our students worked on was just a couple of years ago. We built a wireless cloud over downtown Athens, its called The Wag Zone - the wireless Athens Georgia Zone, and when we built it, we were real excited about the technical experience of putting together a Wi-Fi cloud. But when we brought in students they were really underwhelmed with the infrastructure and they said that they wanted to invent something that you could do with the wireless cloud that they actually wanted to do. So, one of the first projects they came up with was a Friend Finder. They came up with the system that would allow them to use a pocket PC to tell the system where they were and then, whenever everybody else came into downtown Athens, they could find out where all their friends were, that they were a restaurant or a coffee shop or even some other types of establishments that students tend to hang out in downtown Athens. So, this was an application that really addressed some of the important needs in their lives.
